Last year at the track, I realized that my little Samsung 3.1Mpixel camera was a little...under powered...for panning cars. It was an awesome camera that I bought with a bunch of discounts during the Target years, but I just needed something better. Sooo.....I went shopping last year and researched a lot. I originally wanted a Canon Digital Rebel SLR. It seemed to be a reliable SLR that worked well for beginners. When I went to best buy, the only store where I could actually PLAY with the equipment, I met a photography instructor from Crookston who gave me the highlights of Nikon. He essentially gave me an hours worth of free education on light, aperture, and shutter speed during my play time with the Nikon D70 that Best Buy had on display. Even though I had NEVER touched an SLR before, he was very patient with me, and said I was a smart girl (for understanding light waves and such). Hehe! Well, I ended up being a Nikon person after that, and I've been trying to live up to his standards for being a smart girl. Unfortunately, my composition needs a ton of work.... But never fear! I will be taking my first photography class this fall. Wish me luck!
VR4GASM
This is my beautiful baby, and it's also my first turbo car. I started driving an '88 Cougar when I was 16. Great car, but with a V8 and RWD, it's hard for a 16 year old girl to keep in on the ice and not the ditch. (I grew up in MN so when I said ice, I meant the road.) I never did put it in the ditch or, worse yet, into another car, but I upgraded to a '90 Grand Prix. Nice conservative FWD V6, BUT almost more treacherous on the road. Instead of drifting on ice, it would just plow forward. So when I went off to college, I found a green 2nd gen Stealth R/T for sale. I wanted it really badly, so I called the dealer and told him I would be right there to test drive it. He areed to wait an hour or so for me. I immediately drove down there (it was as far from campus as you could get while staying in town). So as I pull in, the guy I talked to on the phone (who promised to wait for me) was peeling the stickers off and selling it to some college punk! (Yeah, I'm sorry, I mean a different college punk....NOT ME!) So, I was sad. So on the last day of school, my parents came to help me move out of my dorm room, and we stopped at McDonald's. On our way back home, right across from MickyD's, in my rearview mirror, I see it. There in a beam of light shone down from the heavens was a gorgeously white first gen Stealth upon a rotating car display..seriously.... I told my brother in my Prix with me, "That's my *$&%^ car!" I called my parents on the FRS radio in the truck and told them to turn around! Upon further inspection, it was badged as a TT though it was really an NA, but I bought it anyway. I knew I couldn't afford the insurance on a TT in college. ( I had an accident where a lady ran a red light at an intersection, and I hit her (I was coming down a hill). Anyway, she lied and said I ran the light, though the officer who wrote the report stated that she ran the light, and our insurance companies decided to cover their own. So we both go nailed with an at fault accident. *sigh*) ANYWAY, I loved my little white R/T so much that some day I wanted to grow up and get a VR4. I had the turbo bug. I sold the NA to my dad who is getting the turbo bug, and now I have VR4GASM...
